On September 24 and 25, 2010, an innovative disaster exercise unfolded in cyber space. One of the goals was to educate and evaluate the disaster response community in relationship to social media. Of course, when dealing with social media, the community of responders opens up to include a more realistic user group: EVERYONE! Tweets were sent out. Facebook was used. Skype chat, and Google groups, Vsee, and Geochat, and (gasp) even the old standby of basic email! Some of us here at globaldisasterforum were fringe participants, while others here were significantly involved.
We are opening up the globaldisasterforum boards as a space for sharing suggestions, lessons learns, "next times", ideas, products and innovations related to Exercise 24 specifically, and generally, to the "Rs" of crisis and disaster: Risk Reduction, Response, Recovery, Resilience.
Mind your manners, and keep this a safe place to share ideas, ask questions, or simply listen in.
